Training Videos
Modified By Vishwanthar on 10/22/2008 11:41:42 PM)

I have decided to add training videos in this column.  I am mainly interested to present videos which deal with the technical aspect of compound movements.  I am not suggesting that I have the best style at my disposal, but what I am suggesting is that there are certain basic generalization to be followed when we are doing movements such as Deadlift, Squat, and Bench Press.  Renowned exercise scientist Mel Siff says "Too many coaches teach an ideal model of movement which is based on a study of top performers.  We must never forget that efficency (rather than perfection) is highly individual and what suits one athlete does not necessarily suit another."  He also emphasizes that there is a major difference between  skill and styleSkill refers to the efficiency of executing a given motor task, whereas style refers to one's individual expression of that skill.

Going by the above statement, one should not be confused and totally  neglect the technical aspects of lifting.  I repeat, there are certain basic guidlines which should be followed, but I still see some clients of mine who perform a slightly exxagerated form.  Nonetheless, I am confident about their form, as they have been performing exercise injury free with their individual style since two or three years.

I will post videos on training soon, and perhaps different style used by different individuals. The style varies because of the skill and the skill varies because of the leverage.

Re: Training Videos

Sorry for the delay in posting the videos.  I was very busy with the gym expansion work.  I will get back to the videos in a few days, and before that I would like to post videos of the new equipments we have added to the gym.
